Okay, it’s 2020. A new year and a new decade. Now, I’m not one for doing New Year’s Resolutions, as such, but I do like to have projects going, and I have several planned for this year.
- Get my passport and RealID, in anticipation of some travel in 2021!
- Finish sorting and storing all those Legos I got last year (fourteen+ bins)
- We’re moving - planning a move in the Spring to a bigger house - upgrade time!
- Get ordained - I expect to be presiding over a wedding later this year!
- A Variety of Baad Acts - I am putting together a night of one-act plays and variety pieces with the drama club I manage - fall performance
- Another book or books? - I’m looking at Amazon self-publishing and may turn out a book on my own. Or a bunch of booklets. Or both.
- I want at least one more tattoo, maybe several.
- Should be able to pay off one or more credit cards.
That seems like a pretty good list of projects to work on. Let’s see where we’re at when the next holiday season hits us. That list looks just a little intimidating, but looking back at some of my previous years:
- 2019 - co-authored a book, paid off several credit cards
- 2018 - wrote a play & performed in it, got a tattoo
- 2017 - got married, got a tattoo, paid off my car, designed an awareness pin
- 2016 - started getting diabetes and allergies under control, moved, got engaged, travel to Oregon & Wisconsin
- 2015 - got three tattoos, came out publicly as multiple & began advocating
And of course, I’m already tentatively making some planning for 2021 .
- February trip to a conference in Orlando with extended vacationing.
- Fall trip to Europe with my daughter is a BIG hope.
Well, it's now December 2020. This year did not go as anticipated. Scott lost his job in February, we moved in April, and the world went a little crazy this year. Mostly Coronavirus, but especially all the things that happened because of that. I now work from home almost entirely, the club has been closed for most of the year, we've severely reduced our socializing and trip-taking. I think we should get a do-over on all the 2020 plans this year, and then just decide this year didn't count.
So let's look at what sweet, innocent January-me thought we'd do this year...
- I did get my RealID, but the passport is still on the list. I wouldn't do any travelling right now anyway or for the foreseeable future.
- I'm down to a single bin of Lego to be sorted. That's paused until after Christmas, but I made a lot of progress this year.
- The move was completed.
- I achieved ordination, but the wedding has been postponed. When it's time, though, I'll be ready!
- A Variety of Baad Acts - the drama show has been postponed until sometime 2021, and rehearsals are paused. The drama club is meeting virtually for now, and has pretty much petered out.
- I am in the process of editing and co-producing another anthology, this one of short erotica pieces. The other book projects are still out there for 'someday'.
- Did not get more tattoos, but still want to.
- Did not pay off credit cards - put the money into savings, instead, since we are down one income.
What did I accomplish?
- I was responsible for a lot of the minutiae to transition my workplace to everyone working from home.
- We moved. Everyone knows that's a huge deal.
- Producing an anthology, for release probably Spring 2021.
- Transitioned both the clubs I run to meet virtually.
- Transitioned to teaching my kink classes online - taught two classes, with hopefully more to follow soon.
- Made a single trip, with virus precautions in place, to spend a whole week with my parents in South Carolina.
- Improved my health - A1C, cholesterol, and liver numbers are in 'normal' range.
So what do I want to do with 2021?
- get a Coronavirus vaccine when it's appropriate to do so
- publish Hot Flashes, the anthology I'm working on.
- work on publishing my own works
- present more online kink education classes
- revive the show A Variety of Baad Acts to perform in the Fall
- finish sorting that last bin of Lego
- get another tattoo
- get a passport (for later travel to Europe with Tori)
- if virus is no longer an issue, maybe a trip to the West Coast late in the year?
